‘Tis the Season or Not?

As some of you may have noticed, there has been a widespread debate on social media the past few days/weeks. And it’s getting pretty heated.

The topic?

Christmas decorating.

Yeah, you read it right. The internet is completely divided over the idea of “premature decorating,” or putting up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving.

The Wrong Side

One side is totally against the early decorating, claiming that those who decorate too soon are guilty of skipping Thanksgiving. These people probably spend the month of November feeling miserable, because they’ve convinced themselves that they can’t “deck their halls” a little early, while others are enjoying hot cocoa by the Christmas tree.

The Right Side

On the contrary, there are people who firmly believe that decorating earlier is not a bad thing. It does not mean they’re skipping Thanksgiving, rather just enhancing it with a little Christmas cheer. Also, I’m pretty sure Christmas decorations contribute to happiness, so why not be happy a little earlier than December?

My Side

I think it’s pretty clear which side I support, but before you jump to conclusions, let me explain myself. As y’all know, I’m a college student and I live about 2 hours away from home. When I take my last final on December 10, I’m heading home and I won’t be back until after the new year. So, my roommates and I all agreed that we would much rather enjoy our Holiday decor for a whole month, rather than just a couple of weeks. Also, we just love Christmas, so the more time we spend celebrating it, the merrier we are!

Now it’s time to choose your side!

I am unashamed to admit that I am most definitely the guy on the left. So, until all you Scrooges out there decide to decorate for yourselves, enjoy these pics of our “premature” Christmas decorations!

Happy Holidays and until next time,

K
